VW announces top management reshuffle, changes India head

06 August 2010;deccanherald.com:New Delhi: Currently the Managing Director for Engineering at Volkswagen Saschen, Loschmann will take up his new assignment in India in October, the company said in a statement. Mueller, who spearheaded the establishment of the VW brand in India as Group Representative and was responsible for setting up the auto company's manufacturing plant at Chakan, in Maharashtra, will now move to the new 'Group Trucks' division in Germany, it added. He played a crucial role in establishing the Chakan plant at an investment of Rs 3,800 crore, which will have an initial capacity of 1.1 lakh units. The plant started operations with the production of the Skoda Fabia in May, 2009, followed by the Polo, launched earlier this year in the Indian market. It will also produce a soon-to-be-launched mid-sized sedan, Vento. The change in the top management in India is part of a reshuffle in the global operations of VW. As part of the rejig, Hans-Jaochim Rothenpieler, head of quality assurance at the VW Group, has been appointed as Board of Management spokesman and Managing Director for engineering at VW Saschen with effect from September 1, 2010. Frank Tuch, who was the Chief Operating Officer of British car-maker Lotus Cars, will now be the new head of group quality assurance, it said.
